Why is it that most people seem to think of us (Mormons) as non-Christians?

It seems to me that the definition of a Christian would be someone who believes that Jesus of Nazareth was Christ the Redeemer, the savior of the world, the Only Begotten Son of God the Father. These are explicitly part of our beliefs - most particularly our first and third Articles of Faith ("We believe in God the Eternal Father, and in his Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost" and "We believe that through the atonement of Christ all mankind may be saved by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel", respectively).

So what sets us apart, in their eyes, from other Christians?

You know. I have no idea on that one.

I can tell you why us Jews don't think that Jews for Jesus are Jewish... but other than that... couldn't tell you.

Well, that and they didn't call him the Messiah back then. He was just this guy, you know? And then yes he doesn't full fill the prophecies. (Mostly because they're supposed to happen BEFORE he comes back, not after. The whole peace on earth and stuff.)

Jews do not believe in Jesus as the Messiah. The JfJ do. Thus they are automatically not Jewish even if they act Jewish. They're kinda loony.
