So. This is Dreamwidth.

Could do with a bit of customization, but I imagine that'll be easy enough once it's high enough on my priority list.

I don't think I'll abandon LJ completely, if only because there are plenty of icon communities and personal accounts and so on that I'm reading through the archives of there and that I don't believe are also here, and also Milliways hasn't moved. But I am not going to post on LJ directly, or give them money, or so much as glance at any of their pages with any browser that doesn't have Adblock - no matter what computer - until things change for the decidedly better.

In other news, I think I'll do something approximating an Avatar marathon next week. It's been too long since I last watched it.

...Ooh, hey, what's this "choose random icon" thing? I may have to try that out at some point.
kd7sov: (hit in the face with a rock)
... ... ... Wow, the new comment interface is ugly. No preview option, no actually-good icon selection... It almost feels like they took every positive thing about the old interface and decided to remove it.

No apparent change to the post-an-entry interface, thus far, and there's some indication that existing comment-subjects are retained, but... bad move, LJ.

You know what would be really nice? If there were an option to, for instance, prevent the posting of any anonymous comment with particular words in it. For instance, "hotels". Sure, some people using that option would lose a few genuine comments, but it'd cut way down on the aggravation for all of us.

Come to think of it, if you're going to get past the CAPTCHA, wouldn't you leave a message that was, if not genuine, at least comprehensible or constructed in a useful way? I don't understand these people.

Well. A week has passed since I last posted, and quite a week it's been.

I got Dark Dawn, and am pleased with it. Not pleased enough with aspects of the worldbuilding to retcon my millicanon enough to fit, but I enjoy the game. Now I'm debating whether to cultivate a particular proto-headvoice for Milliways or give Felix opportunity to meet her.

Thursday, though, was pretty bad. I spent most of the day in bed, throwing up. The next three-four days were spent with a throat full of sore, a head full of stuffed, and ears full of ache. Monday was borderline, and Tuesday I felt well enough to resume life.

Unfortunately, Tuesday was prone to network and scheduling problems. And ljlogin becoming broken, for no good reason I can find. So now I am finally able to return to my internets, catch up on my flist, and so on. This afternoon I think I'll EP with some advance setup for a Dark Dawn-inspired plot.

In the meantime, have a meme.

Ask me about any character, and I will tell you some combination of:

a) five facts about them from my personal fanon
b) two reasons they're amazing
c) five things I'd like to see happen to them
d) three people I might ship them with and why
e) if I don't know them, I will make something up

Obviously, characters you know I know are best, but I doubt there are many of those; as long as you avoid non-Ghibli anime and manga, I should be able to do at least e) above.

Um, what?

Dear Livejournal, explain why exactly you, according to my friends page, decided to repost the entire last two months of Homepage Spotlights yesterday?
kd7sov: (also felix)
...Hm. Apparently Google is a bigger research friend than I'd thought.

Some time ago, I posted a list of the Golden Sun character LJs I could find. (Interesting fact: if your search terms include Livejournal, Google also checks for "LJ".) Apparently, though, I missed some. Today I was trying to find the time I put Apocalix into [livejournal.com profile] mixed_muses, and while I was unable to find it, I did get [livejournal.com profile] dear_mun's "[canon] golden sun" tag. (I have been aware of [livejournal.com profile] dear_mun for some time, but the way my brain works means I would post there very-rarely-if-ever, so I never took a lot of interest in it.)

Apparently, there are several Golden Sun journals active there that didn't come up at all in my earlier search. A list follows:

Username criteria vary lots. )

No sign of unknown Jennas, Shebas, or Proxians. The totals now stand at Isaac 7, Garet 3, Ivan 9 or 10, Mia 5, Felix 7, Jenna 4, Sheba 2 or 3, Piers 8, Saturos 1, Menardi 2, Karst 3, Agatio 0, Alex 5, Kraden 0. And still only two have ever been at [livejournal.com profile] milliways_bar. (What is up with all the Ivans?)

That if LJ can recognize that I am me enough to not send me double-notifications when someone replies to [livejournal.com profile] venusadept_2's comments in [livejournal.com profile] mm_kd7's posts, it should be able to not send emails saying, "Hi [livejournal.com profile] kd7sov, [livejournal.com profile] kd7sov's birthday is coming up!"

You'd think.

I haven't taken a look yet, but. The fact that a Livejournal Roleplay wiki exists...

The other day, I posted about a picture I made. Yesterday, I decided I might pimp it in [livejournal.com profile] adepts_gs and [livejournal.com profile] avatar_fans, the fandom comms for Golden Sun and Avatar, respectively.

Between the two, they've gotten six times as many comments as anything I've posted here. Felix may well have had threads that beat the total, and I think I got more the first time I hosted DE, but it's still something of a milestone.

This could get a little long. )

It's quite interesting to notice which journals I recognize on which interest lists, and where from. It's particularly interesting to see which people share several of my interests without my having encountered them anywhere on LJ.

One of these days I want to find out what sorting algorithm LJ uses for the entries on the interest lists.

An update.

I decided, after my last post, to do some specific research. My numbers may be off, but probably by no more than five in any case.

My results, let me show you them. )

Very interesting results. For the curious, and for my own future reference, I include a list of the forty-six, arranged by character. )

Addendum: I ran this post through LJ's spellcheck. I'm interested to note that it doesn't recognize LJ, Picard, Karst, or pyro, but has no problem with RP or comm.
