I had no idea this was such a spiritually significant week. Part of it is readily apparent - how often does Easter fall during Passover, after all? - but part...
On April 3, 1836, Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery were in the Kirtland Temple, where they experienced a vision. In this vision, they were visited by Christ, who accepted the temple and blessed it; by Moses, who bestowed the keys of the gathering of Israel; by Elias, who committed the dispensation of the gospel of Abraham; and, perhaps most significantly, by Elijah, who fulfilled Malachi's promise, turning the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to the fathers.
Far earlier, when Christ was crucified, his body lay in the tomb for the entirety of the Sabbath. During that time, Latter-Day Saints are taught, he taught the spirits of the dead, and organized the righteous among them to preach to and help the unrighteous.
And, to top it off, this weekend is the LDS General Conference, when Church leaders provide testimony, doctrine, and instruction. We believe, in fact, that the Conference talks are on topics the Lord specifically wants us to hear. In particular, since the speakers don't confer with each other about their topics, it's particularly telling when several of them speak about the same thing.
