kd7sovSo like I said last week, I've begun a Legacy Variant Challenge.
And I thought, why not let my readers-who-don't-say-anything (do they just stay home and lie around?) see it happen?
So here we go!
Meet Alex Legacy. It's probably short for Alexandria or some such. She's a Fortune Sim, Romance secondary.
Also her hair looks a certain amount like the hair of one of the girls in my Latin class. Not the glasses, though. I just like glasses.
So. Empty, huge lot. No leaving the lot. No passing control. Do not pass Go. Go!
Bird watching! An excellent way to start the day. Especially when there's nothing on the lot but bugs and birds. (For some reason, Sims are more likely to choose birdwatching over bug-catching autonomously.)
Nothing on the lot, huh? Well, let's fix that! We've got an El Cheapo Oven (not official names), an El Cheapo Countertop, a Student Budget Refrigerator, and forty bucks of garden plots. (Unfortunately, I started Alex in winter. I thought, from what happened with Weyard, that she'd start on the last day of winter and launch right into spring, but apparently not. She started on the first day of winter. So much for early garden money.)
Oh, and a twenty-Simoleon pond. Good for catching fish.
Speaking of...
Hey, Alex, let's go fishing!
(The observant will notice there are certain fixtures I haven't mentioned yet. Well, that's because I couldn't afford them. We'll get to that.)

Some random old guy shows up and decides to annoy Alex. She doesn't seem happy with this.
Aha, someone else! (Someone I made, in point of fact. But that's not necessarily relevant.) Things seem to be going a bit better...
...Or not. Sheesh, did Alex pick pick-on-Alex day to move in or something?
All right, so much for social. Shoo these darn kids off your lawn and eat some... sparkles?
Apparently when you cook a fish you've caught the food is all sparkly and better at filling you up.
All right, with a full belly, let's do some money-and-fun building. Time to pai...

I didn't record the next sequence of events, but Alex kept trying to do things and was interrupted by her bladder before she could start. Eventually it spilled, which bottomed out her hygiene bar, so she was still unwilling to do anything. And in the absence of sink, tub, shower, or other water source, there was not much I could do to help her. And I was out of money.
So I decided that, before I ran her all the way to the red in everything... I would start over. Quit to neighborhood without saving.
All right, first try didn't go so well. Pull her out, bulldoze the lot, replace with a slightly less superhuge lot (5x5 instead of 5x6). Let's try that again.

With the lower cost of the smaller lot, I was able to give her a slightly greater assortment of StuffTM You can see the garden, easel, and kitchen like last time, as well as a rudimentary shack containing a bed, toilet, and shower. It's got a roof, so she doesn't get the "there's weather in my house!" reaction. (Felix and Jenna got that right after I got Seasons, when it started raining on their heads in the middle of the night.) Hopefully she won't run out of bladder and hygiene this time.
And, of course, the twenty-smole pond again. But it's not in this picture.

Oh, all right, you can talk about kissing to this guy. He does seem fairly nice. No annoying so far.

Apparently, you can flip yourself completely over and land on your butt if you're not good at it.
One fish, two fish... hey, that's a different kind of fish! The wiki told me there could only be one without a talent badge.
Ah, well, it looks nice enough on the wall next to the first one. (Not actually the one in the picture above; it was re-caught after the reboot.)
The box, by the way, is the one some NPC leaves at every newly-moved-into lot. It's got a computer in it.
And speaking of boots...
Next morning, there's a new wall. I wanted to make a room for the kitchen, with table and chair and stuff, but ran out of money. Sigh. At least it's good for holding pictures.
(Alex has a persistent fear of selling a low-value picture, which means one worth less than 100 smoles. I keep hoping she'll paint something she'll be willing to sell. In the meantime, I hear paintings on walls gradually appreciate. We'll see how quickly that happens.)
AAAAAAH! FIRE! FIRE!
Fortunately I was able to get Alex to go to work with her extinguisher.
*cough* *cough* Better get that fire out quickly, Alex! You don't want to die of smoke inhalation!
And this is why I said "fortunately" a moment ago: fire was a big enough fear to send her aspiration meter all the way to the deep red.
In an attempt to mend the situation, I bought a fire alarm (in accordance with her new want). Too little too late, in this case, but if it can help in the future...
But as it happens, I should have waited a little longer. Because, you see...
Suddently, imaginary therapist! From the sky!
"You! Have the insanity... of a manatee!"
Which, you know, he helped. She's not catatonic. But she does have this tendency to go out to the curb and beg.
(Also snow.)
That's right, make a lunchmeat sandwich. Nice and easy, and it doesn't need any heating.
Though actually, you might want heating, what with the snow...

Apparently, someone who likes to talk shop with snowmen.
This is, oddly, Alex's best way of filling her social gauge, without a phone. She relaxes on the bed and daydreams, and that seems to work.
(For some reason, when she goes to bed on her own initiative she puts on underwear instead of pajamas. Kind of makes me wonder why they have a pajama option...)
Now that's what I call snow. All over the inside of the oven. And the baking dish.

It turns out he's Evil McEvilface's brother. (Note: Evil McEvilface is not actually the guy's name. I think he's Tom or something innocuous like that.)
Alex seems to get along a little better with this brother. Just a little.
Another day, another snowfall. This is the first of spring, so I was hoping to get some planting in. But when there's snow on the ground and the pond is frozen over, that's probably not the best idea.

(That other person is a pre-made Sim I downloaded, modeled on Katara from ATLA. They made her hair too dark and her eyes too big, but what can you do?)
Ooh, the pond is thawed! You know what it's time for?

(And also weed-pulling, but I don't have any pictures of that.)
And whadda ya know, it's warm enough to go out in your pajamas! To... catch a slimy boot. Eww.
