Golden Sims: Diliculum discipulum

(That should mean something like "studious dawn". I wanted the alliteration, and the concept of dawn, from GS:DD, and I've been taking a little Latin, but unfortunately I'm only a few weeks into the class.)
If you've been paying attention, you may have noticed that there's been a bit more time between this Golden Sims post - the third - and the second than between the first two. This is not, as you may have suspected, because I'm a flake. I am, but that's not why this took longer. No, it's because I got a new expansion. Yes, I now have Sims 2: University, and I wanted to make sure I understood how certain aspects of it worked before putting my Adepts through it. Also I was trying to build a custom college campus, Wey U, and having to figure out a few more things along the way. But that's done, and I can mess with my Weyardians again!
When last we left our heroes, Jenna had just had a birthday and was now a teen! Yeah, Jenna!

The next morning, they all had breakfast together. I think this nearly made them all late for work, but I don't recall for certain because this was taken almost two weeks ago and I've done all manner of other Simstuff since. Likewise, there's a picture of the Jupiters that I have absolutely no recollection of why I took.
Anyway. The next day Jenna brought a new friend home from school. I did mention that her newly-assigned aspiration is Popularity, right? She (Jenna, not the friend) left immediately to go buy new clothes. Whereupon the game crashed, but fortunately it saves when a Sim heads out to a community lot. So the next time I booted up the Dalzoons, she was just getting home. Whereupon she talked to her friend for a bit and went to try clothes-shopping again.

It worked this time. I replaced several of her game-assigned default outfits, and discovered that she's really popular. I mean, look at that! Four of the five people in the frame are thinking about her.
I'm not really enamored of her top, but I didn't change it because I didn't find anything that seemed more Jenna-y to me. Ah, well, she'll get something else soon enough. Mostly I wanted to give her the skirt I made back when I started, and I took the opportunity to fix up a few other things too.

Speaking of fixing up, I also gave the Dalzoons a study. Which may end up as a third bedroom at some point, but for now I wanted a homework-and-skills room. It... kinda failed at that; Felix came home and stuck his homework on the floor instead of the desk. I'm hoping I just had the chair in the wrong place.

And then Jenna met Isaac, and they became friends. More on this later. But first...
... the Jovian woes.
(Once again, this is from a couple weeks ago, so I don't have all the details straight any more. Be kind, please.)

So Sheba, fresh from her date with Felix (insofar as that's a thing in different households before Sims 3) got herself a mirror. If I recall correctly, she did this partly because she wanted Charisma (possibly for her replacement job) and partly to primp before sneaking out with Felix.

This "sneaking out" thing was not the best plan. You see, it was a school night, and sneaking out involves leaving the house at one in the morning (unless there's a parent up to catch you, in which case it involves trying and failing to leave the house at one in the morning). So Sheba got very little sleep that night. And after school, she was quite literally falling over from exhaustion. So she called in sick and went to sleep.
Amusingly, Faran had actually gotten sick that day after work. Something about cockroaches giving you the flu, I don't actually understand it. But anyway, I had two Sims asleep in the middle of the day.

While Faran was relaxing - because no matter how you try, you can't keep a Sim asleep all the time without putting walls and stuff in the way, which is just cruel - he had some daydreams. One of them suggested a possibility for his "golden anniversary" wish, although I'm not sure whether that Mia will be sticking around. I intend, you see, to make a college-age Mia, and it could get confusing to have two in the same neighborhood.
But anyway. Eventually I remembered that Faran has the Family aspiration, and thus can make Granny's Comfort Soup - which instantly removes all sickness. So he did that.

And then I gave him a violin. That's really all there is to say on the matter.
After that I mostly was focusing on the University stuff I talked about earlier. Once that finished up, I started in on Piers.

So here's Piers. His hair's too long, but there's not a lot I have the patience to do about that. He wants to have fifty Dream Dates. Good luck with that...

As is the norm, the first playable Sim shows up to campus before any dorm-mates. So Piers wandered around alone for a while.
In retrospect, I probably made the bathrooms way too big and capacious. Ah, well.

Piers met somebody new, and promptly... invited them to play chess.
Hey, it's a traditional Sims relationship-building thing, and he had a want to make a friend, and he needed a Logic point for school. Besides, if you get a Sim up to three Logic points, and they have eight or fewer Playful, they can meditate, which is all kinds of useful.

This dorm is set up kind of oddly. It's got a nice piano, and some good walls, and then they eat off card tables.
Also some girl likes playing the piano.

Not long after, Piers discovered his true passion: dance!

Gradually other people decided to join in. The first was some dude in a pirate bandanna. Arr.

Neither of them was very coordinated.

In fact, one guy showed up just to laugh at them. And I don't really blame him.

Before long they'd attracted a girl to come dance too. Add another to the "ridiculously awkward moves" pile.

And also absurd facial expressions. There were a few of these; I think they go together with uncoordinated dance moves.

Then the chess-game girl showed up.

She was a little better at dancing then the others; this picture was taken right after all of the other three had fallen over one after the other. Note how she shows no signs of doing the same.

As a matter of fact, I kind of think she may have done this before.

This looks immensely uncomfortable, especially on the neck. But it also looks like the kind of thing the other three aren't up to trying at all, and purple-dress did it several times.
About noon, the dance party started breaking up. Piers and the purple girl went downstairs, he to eat, she to...

...play the piano. I get the feeling she's a musical person.
Also I learned something. If a Sim does a performance like this, other Sims can tip them. As long as the Sims you can control aren't doing the tipping, the money isn't taken out of the money you have access to. But at the end, when the tips are added up, apparently the money goes into the available funds, even if the one being tipped wasn't controllable. At least it works that way in a dorm, when the performer is living there.

When Piers got home from class, she and the first dancing girl were having dinner together. He joined them.

Though it may bear noting that he didn't get to be part of the conversation until the other girl finished and left.
I would not be surprised if Piers asks her on a date in the near future.
And, last but certainly not least, Mission: Adorable.
But before we get to that, I wanted to show you something.

This is a pretty cool thing in Sims 2; you can see the other nearby lots. This is the Jerras' house (Garet's family) next door...

...and here's the Dalzoons'. Technically they should be across a river and down a cliff, but you take what you can get.
(The car is Jenna's, which I bought as a birthday present. She hasn't worked on it much so far.)
So. You remember Matthew, right? Isaac's new little brother?

Here he is! Isn't he just adorable?

I made a bedroom for him (and for Dora, while he needs active taking-care-of). This used up most of my spare cash. And then Isaac took the rest for an easel.

Speaking of Isaac... he decided to take Jenna out to the bowling alley. She seemed to be having a good time.

Uh-oh, Isaac! Jenna looks like she's into you, but she could be looking at that lookalike behind you!

Whew, looks like my concern was unfounded. Isaac used some kind of flirtation, I forget what exactly, and Jenna quite literally fell for him. Or stumbled, anyway. Same thing.

D'awwww. Doesn't she have just the most adorkable expression?

Except maybe his.

I mentioned that Jenna's really popular, didn't I? Yeah, look at all these people trying to horn in on their date.
So anyway, date went well. Good but not Great, much like Felix and Sheba last post. Now back to Matthew!

Sims can be so cute. Parents have the option - which they may take autonomously - of "tucking in" sleeping kids.

*sniff* They grow up so fast. Isaac got confused a few times, but eventually he managed to pull off Matthew's birthday. Also Jenna randomly showed up. Ah, well.

Now that he's no longer a baby, Matthew is much more interactive. Here Kyle is teaching him a nursery rhyme. When a toddler makes progress on learning one of those, he waves his arms along. It's cute.

Not everything is cute, of course. Kyle managed to set the kitchen on fire while making spaghetti. I think that's the first time one of my Sims has set stuff on fire; I know it's the first time in Sims 2.
Fortunately, I took precautions:

When furnishing a house, I always put a fire alarm over the stove. A firefighter showed up, put it out, and told Kyle to be more careful next time. Then I sent everyone to bed, because the others got woken up to evacuate. Or scream at the fire, one of the two.

Okay, back to babies and cute faces. Both at once, even! Just look at how pleased Dora is when Matthew manages to repeat a word back to her. He hasn't actually learned to talk, but that'll come soon.

Wait, what?!
It was at this point that I got my first hint that something was not right. So I looked.

Sure enough, Matthew has only one point of Niceness. This is, I think, not a Matthew who would agree to help out Briggs.
So, on that note, I finish. But only for now; tune in again soon!
