Five Questions Meme
Jul. 15th, 2010 07:32 amI'm sure you've seen it before, but I'm giving you the rules anyway.
1) Comment to this post with some indication of interest.
2) I will give you five questions
3) Repost this to your journal, along with the answers.
4) Repeat this offer.
ceitfianna gave me these questions:
1) What are you reading and would you recommend it to me? I'm reading C.S. Lewis (The Great Divorce at the moment), which I would heartily recommend. I'm also reading The Four Forges by Jenna Rhodes, which... it's good, but you don't strike me as a person who really goes for exposition-heavy High Fantasy mysteries. I'm also reading Torch of Freedom by David Weber, which I don't recommend unless you've read Crown of Slaves and probably several of the main-line Honor Harrington books.
2) What's your perfect meal? Oh, I don't know. I always have a hard time picking food. Maybe my grandmother's cheese enchiladas.
3) You can go to any point in time to talk to anyone, who and why? You know, I was all set to say something about da Vinci or Shakespeare or Einstein... but I think the person I'd most like to meet is Joseph Smith. And why? Because, as his contemporary and colleague John Taylor put it, "Joseph Smith, the Prophet and Seer of the Lord, has done more, save Jesus only, for the salvation of men in this world, than any other man that ever lived in it." I truly believe that he was one of the greatest prophets of this or any dispensation.
4) How do you prefer to travel? Seldom. I mean. It really depends on the distance. If it's only a few miles, I often prefer to walk; longer distances I often take a car, although I think I'd like to ride a train like the one in Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box, with space to move around andpuzzles to solve and dining cars and all that.
5) What inspires you? That is an excellent question, but a bit vague. If your intent is "what do you find (particularly) inspirational", then I could name several songs and paintings. If your intent is "what makes you want to write/draw/be productive", I could say something vague about greater and lesser headvoices. If your intent is "what gets you out of bed in the morning", I could say something about there being no point in being alive if you just lie about with your eyes closed, which would be a response but not, technically, an answer. Or I could ramble on about potential answers for a while, and then stop.
