Okay, you know how looking at old stories you wrote, or old Milliways threads, or whatever, can make you cringe?
As a follow-up to my last post, I went looking for a folder that had served, from about 2003 or '04 until probably early '06, as the place for my fandom and creativity stuff. I was looking for it because I remembered sketching a few OCs for a Golden Sun fanfic that never actually got anywhere. (I did eventually write the first chapter, which featured three other OCs but none of the ones I drew.)
What I didn't count on was what else was in the folder. Most perplexing, on the back of a script-form outline of a completely different GS fic, is a set of four drawings: a crescent moon, a circus tent, a scroll, and a wheeled cage with rotting ribs inside and a box riveted to the bottom.
Other highlights include:
Plus, of course, the aforementioned OC pictures.
I may have to scan and upload, somewhere, the shadow-man. You can tell I took it very seriously at the time, if only from the fact that I drew stubble on the guy's chin but completely forgot to give a shadow to his backpack.

Other highlights include:
- a set of ideas for the above-mentioned Golden Sun fic, including one major point I have no memory of, and what might be an element-based compass, the only thing in the folder that I colored
- On the back of that, a rough map of Weyard, marking prominent locations from the games and their equivalents on the underside thereof
- What appears to be a simultaneous experiment in shadow and profile drawing: sunrise in a hilly area, framing a rather ugly man (with a very sharp chin and nose, and no apparent forehead; also, apparently very weird hairstyling, as all his hair is on top of his head) standing next to a poorly-designed bicycle. This bicycle is clearly the highlight of the piece, as it includes a dragon figurehead and painted-on flames and wings
- A whole set of fannish drawings, including the hat and water emblem from the Zelda game Minish Cap; the torso (and not much more; there's a cape and a little of each arm, but that's it) of some character from CrossGen Comics' Mystic, along with the symbols of the magic guilds from same, and one of several CrossGen Sigils throughout; and what appears to be a map of some (portion of) a dungeon from an unspecified video game
- a printout of "Paul Revere", from which I think I intended to make an intro to yet another Golden Sun fic
- A list of characters, many of whom have no connection to each other; it's possible this was something along the lines of "Wouldn't it be cool to get these people into Milliways?"
- The number 12, large enough to take nearly a whole page to itself
- Three separate attempts to transcribe the Nexus scene in Star Trek: Generations in preparation for bringing
jeanluc_1701 into Milliways
- A (now utterly facepalmy) technobabble-heavy attempt to make up weird cosmology for Weyard, betraying a complete lack of understanding of such things as scale and three-dimensional geometry
Plus, of course, the aforementioned OC pictures.
