The Christmas Report

It was a good Christmas. We spent last night with my dad's parents, having dinner and pleasant family sociality. This is fairly rare, as my dad has several siblings, some of whom have grandchildren of their own, so gatherings of that side of the family tend to be large and noisy.
I received several books, including four by C. S. Lewis (Surprised by Joy, The Great Divorce, The Weight of Glory, and Miracles; one of these days I'm going to get ahold of a copy of The Four Loves) and Love, Stargirl. My family as a whole generally gets a game; this year's is Killer Bunnies and the Quest for the Magic Carrot. It's fairly complex, but more fun than the title suggests.
The gifts I gave tended to be well-received, although apparently my brother already had Night Watch. I gave my dad the new Star Trek, so we watched it today. (New conclusion: J. J. Abrams has no concept of astronomy or large-scale physics, even more so than many of the episode writers.)
