How very fascinating.

As those of you who pay attention to such things are doubtless aware, the My Little Pony episode "Luna Eclipsed", which aired today, was quite anticipated. In particular, the reveal of Princess Luna's canonical personality was hotly awaited.
This personality came as quite the surprise to many people. Luna is... abrasive, and awkward in that loud way that people without much self-confidence sometimes are. She's also much more used to the Equestria of a thousand years previous.
And yet... I like her. I do. And I think I know why. It's her diction and sentence structure, the way she tends not to use contractions, the way she enunciates. It reminds me of Wind Whistler, my undisputed favorite G1 pony, who would not be horribly out of place on a certain dry planet that got retroactively destroyed a couple of years ago. She's not the same character, but she does build her speech in much the same way.
