Brain, you're scaring me.
Jul. 16th, 2007 07:08 amThis could get a little rambly, but bear with me.
As some of you may be aware, I once played Felix from Golden Sun,
venusadept_2, at
milliways_bar. As you are probably not aware, I want to bring him back. (I always seem to decide this just after apps close, which is probably good as I'll soon have next to no available time or brainspace.)
I am also subject to short-term obsessions. These are usually for video or computer games, and tend to last a week or so. Runescape is the only game I recall having multiple occurrences of this for. I thought the weirdest instance happened beginning in January, when Final Fantasy X took over my brain for some three or four months after reading something at
milliways_bar, only to end when I transfered the obsession to Puzzle Pirates and Heroes, both of which behaved normally thereafter. However, see below.
Practically ever since I had to give Felix up I've had a plot for him in my brain, involving the soundtrack of the Scarlet Pimpernel musical. There would not actually be much correlation with the plot of Scarlet Pimpernel, but.
Recently I loaded Scarlet Pimpernel onto my MP3 player. This awakened the Paragraph 2 obsession with regards to bringing Felix back, as in Paragraph 1.
Now, I recently realized that when I am reading, I usually have sort of a movie running in my brain, but without actually characters - that is, if you ask me to describe a character in a book, I usually can't. There are only brainshapes that fill the roles. This appears to also be the case with text-based roleplaying.
So I've been muttering to myself that I want Felix back, and meanwhile the music behind his plot's playing through my earphones, when the brainshapes twist and quite suddenly I have the sprites from the game in my brain singing the songs as though they were speaking their in-game lines, and they are doing so on backgrounds that generally look like those from the games in style, but don't actually appear. (Except for the one that has the Colosso spectators in the Normal gym from Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire.) So yes, my brain is reworking the Golden Sun images instead of reworking the character images into the already-established Milliways backgrounds.
