Legacy Sims 2: Artistic Alex
Welcome back, faithful viewers, to another exciting episode of... Legacy Sims! Tonight: Finance! Robbery! Both ends of the Aspiration Scale! And... Vegetables!

When last we left Alex, she was having some comfort issues that never actually got mentioned. So I bought her a chair.
It turns out that this bottom-of-the-line chair has three times the comfort boost of the (also bottom-of-the-line) bed. Go figure.
It's not actually much good, but it helps. A little bit.

Also helpful is her new phone (for calling people and being called, a good way to boost the Social need).
Incidentally, it quite annoys me when Sims do this: complain about tiredness when a) they're two steps from a bed, and b) the next instruction in their queue is to sleep on said bed.

To celebrate her new phone, Alex calls up Alan the Redhead to come over.

They're thinking in roughly the same direction.
She makes him a nice...

... Sparklepire fillet? Or no, wait, that's just fish. Never mind. (It turns out, by the way, that the steam is as intrinsic a part of a fish dish as the sparkles; I had her put that plate in the fridge as leftovers, and every time it comes out it's still steaming like that.)

"Greet" comes in many flavors, apparently.

Oh, no! It's a burglar! Alex, wake up!

Ack! She's in my house!
(This caused her to run outside and panic briefly, instead of calling the police.)

WEEEoooEEEoooEEEooo!

"You gotta emergency?"
Unfortunately, the officer arrived just too late, and the thief was able to escape. With both mounted fish and the chair. Dipping into Alex's meager savings, I was able to replace the chair...

...But the damage was done. Emotional and financial damage, both.

Alex was once again reduced to desperation. Occasional wants to see the burglar's ghost weren't useful. Fearing another visit from the Imaginary Therapist, I looked for some solution.

Aha! Tomatoes! With these, Alex was able to fulfill a minor money-making Want and obtain some ready cash.

And a good thing, too...
(Red, for those unfamiliar with Sims specifics, is the "final warning" color for bills. You generally have one day after they turn red to pay them, or else they explode and the Repo Man shows up to take some of your furniture. I've never actually seen this happen; maybe I should, someday when I've got some Sim with enough money to replace whatever gets took.)

With the tomatoes harvested, I determined that we could probably get another crop in before major snowfall. Growing the tomatoes taught Alex enough about caring for plants that her options now included strawberries and cucumbers; I picked the latter.

I also got her another new chair (for a given value of "new"...), one with a much higher comfort rating.

And there was more painting and fishing going on, and apparently Fall happened.
You see, Alex started out as an Adult, with no kids. Elder Sim women can't have babies, which means I need to produce the next Legacy Heir before she gets too old. And in order to do that, a double bed is required. Or a car, or a hot tub, or there are a couple of other options unavailable on residential lots, but the idea is I needed something I didn't have. And that means funds.

Yes! Finally, a painting I can sell from the easel without fear of a Fear!

And eventually Alex became my first Sim to hit maximum enthusiasm in a hobby (Arts and Crafts, of course). This got her enough Aspiration Points to hit Platinum (from somewhere near neutral, I don't remember exactly) and unlocked the "in the zone" benefit, indicated by the white glow. The biggest thing about being "in the zone" is that her mood doesn't decay as quickly while she's doing an arts-and-crafts-related activity; there are also rumors that it would let her paint more quickly, but I don't know for sure.

It also comes with a nifty plaque, shown here above her bed.
Speaking of "nifty", I was also able to get that double bed. Despite my preference, it occurs to me that I didn't include any rule about having to be married in order to make a new Legacy heir, so...

(I don't know whether it was successful; there's a lullaby thing that plays if conception happened, but between the cutscene thing and the fact that my only controllable Sim fell asleep immediately afterward, I don't know if that happened.)
