Golden Sims: It's Soon!
My current plan is to put these reports up pretty regularly, probably on Saturdays. We'll see how well that sticks.
So. Where to start, where to start... Aha!

What d'you know, it's Piers in a snazzy trench coat! It's the end of Fall, at least at the college, so Sims start wearing their "outerwear". Although the NPCs with whom he shares the dorm seem to have no outerwear; they spin to change, but stay wearing whatever they had before.
(As you may have guessed, I've picked up Seasons as well.)
You guys remember Debbie, whose name I actually didn't mention? That musical girl in the purple dress that Piers was liking? And I said he might ask her on a date?

He did. It was a local date, neither of them left the house. But they did some slow-dancing, and some flirting, and I think they may have kissed...

...had a pillow fight... And then, with an hour or so left on the date clock, Debbie headed off to class. Six Sims, three dates, three good-but-not-great-or-dream dates. Sigh.

For no reason I can clearly recall, I had Piers go mess with the pottery wheel. Apparently Sims don't like to sit down when they pot, so I had to get rid of the chair. Ah, well. So he starts with a big brown block of stuff...

...and ends up with a blue plate. No glazing or firing required. I think in Open For Business (which I don't have) there might be a way to use that plate for eating, but for now it's just decorative.

See? Makes a nice wall hanging.
(The "no entry" sign on the door indicates that it's locked. This is mostly so random other Sims don't show up and camp on the bed or clutter the desk or whatever. I've seen this happen in my test case.)

For some reason I haven't managed to determine, sometimes dormmates will show up transparent like this. It doesn't seem to have any effect on gameplay, so I haven't much bothered trying to track down a reason or a fix.

So then he decided to play video games for a bit. He seems to be having fun, so fine by me.

And then it snowed! (I've been skipping ahead a bit, so we're actually into the second half of winter here. I was starting to wonder where the snow was.)
Snow is kind of weird in this game. It doesn't seem to drift, so all the area under that balcony is unsnowed. But most objects that are outside appear to acquire a dusting, no matter what or where. The barbecue under the balcony, the second stereo right next to that barbecue...

... the basketball someone is in the process of dribbling and shooting...
Anyway. I decided to have Piers make a snowman. Naturally, the snowballs picked up a dusting of snow as he was moving them.

Uh, Piers? Don't you think it should be a little rounder?
Ah, well, I guess you don't get a lot of snow in Lemuria, so this would be your first one. I can probably cut you a little slack.

Someone else came along to help! I guess snowmen are attractive or something?
So she helped out, and then left once it was all assembled. Whereupon Piers gave it hat and face and arms and so on.

Wait, what? No, seriously, what? Why would you do this, Piers?

I told him to make a snow angel on the way back in, so he fell over and exploded. Or at least that's what it looked like.

So then he headed off to his final exam, leaving a nice trail of disturbed snow behind him. And he passed! I think he got on the Dean's list. Good job, Piers! Now, according to my plan, it's time to bring Felix to college! But he's not quite ready yet.
At long last, we have some pictures of the Jerras!

We haven't seen much of them, mostly because they're not as fun to play. They don't have money, they're all in bad moods... Like in the picture. Red plumbbobs and no furniture.

Whoa, hey! Looks like Aaron grew up. This is both good and bad - it means Mama Jerra can get on something resembling a normal schedule, but it also means there's another mouth to feed.
Meanwhile, Garet's been fired from his job because of having poor grades, and I keep getting warnings (every few hours through the whole weekend) that Kay is going to get kidnapped by the Social Worker if her grades don't improve. Now, Aaron apparently had a fair bit of fun as a toddler, so first thing I did was have him do Kay's homework.

I am not certain, but I think the dad just got promoted. Whatever the cause, I suddenly had some money! And you know what that means... Furniture!
Also visible is a graphical glitch that occasionally happens, where the lawn is replaced with the image file of something on the lot. It can be someone's hair, a homework book, a bathtub... anything.

The shower broke, so I sent Grandpa Jerra to fix it. His method seems to consist mostly of swearing at it and banging things with the wrench.
Note the leaves; apparently each season has something it gives bonuses to. For fall it's skill activities. Including homework, helpfully.

I am not entirely sure what's up with Grandpa here. The others are eating a nice meal around their new table, but he's... looking out the back window at the front trash can through the started painting.
Anyway, I think I took this picture to show off the new sink. Isn't it nice? It turns out that it renders the counter unusable for food prep, because corner counters are unavailable, so I had to move things around. Still. Sink! Progress!

I decided to have them start a little garden, so here's Grandma getting ready to plant. In her pajamas, because most Sims have absolutely no sense of propriety.

This is a really annoying thing. Sims will autonomously decide to "write in diary", but if there's even one Sim in the room who... I'm not sure what the criterion is, but apparently if Garet's in the room these two won't write. They can do this for hours.
But anyway, yes. Things are starting to look up for the Jerras.
But what about the Dalzoons?
Well, as I said, Felix isn't quite ready for college yet. And there are others to pay attention to as well...

Like his dad, who decided to work on Jenna's car for her. Isn't that great of him? Here he is, sanding away at the body.
(You may notice that his plumbbob is white here, and in any future pictures where he's the focus. Around the time I built the study, we got a genie lamp, and he wished for "peace of mind". Turns out that gives perma-platinum mood, so I never have to worry about him going to work in a bad mood.)

You can see improvement already. But he's not done yet, oh, no.
There in the background you can see Jenna heading for work. Both she and Felix brought friends home from school that day, and neither of them had a day off from the after-school job. Possibly I ought to figure out how to use the bring-someone-home mechanic better.

Isn't it nice to see couples working together like this? On these fix-up cars, you can have one Sim work on the body and one work on the engine simultaneously.

You remember Grandma Jerra's little garden? I gave the Dalzoons a bigger one, and also an orange tree. I'm still trying to figure out how to do it all best, but so far nothing's died of mistreatment.
(The garden itself is around the corner, up against the study. This picture was of the tree.)

Naturally, trees require pruning every so often. I basically put Felix in charge of this one, at least while he's around. (I'm thinking of maybe turning one of his kids, once that's a relevant thing, into a PlantSim. But that's all future stuff.)

I spruced up a bit; you can see the corner of a new bathroom behind the study, as well as the new chessboard and... I have no idea what that is. Some kind of music mixer thing or something. But Jenna seems to be having fun with it. In her underwear, because she feels that way. Not that it matters, being the weekend.

Every so often a random "chance card" will pop up while a Sim's at work or school. You can choose to ignore it, but picking either of the two real choices has a 50% (or 80% if they've got a particular aspiration reward benefit) chance of giving a good result, like a promotion or a cash bonus, and a 50% (or 20%) chance of giving a bad result, like a fine. Or, as seen here, a demotion. This hit Jan pretty hard.

Felix invited Sheba over for a bit. The instruction that led to this picture was simply "Greet"; I think he took it a bit farther than that. I have no idea who the redshirt is.

Ah, love, twoo wuv. Sims 2 has a rather weird thing, where Sims will crush on each other if their "daily" relationship is above 70 with enough romance in it, but they're not in love until they're crushing and their "lifetime" relationship is also above 70. But anyway, they fell in love, which was a big want for each of them. Yay!

Having done this, they decide to celebrate by playing hackysack - sorry, "kicky ball" - on the curb.

...which is apparently a spectator sport.

Felix had to go to work, so Sheba took this opportunity to get to know his mom. Or vice versa, I don't quite recall. Anyway. I think it's rather adorable that even when she's laughing at Jan's joke, she's thinking about Felix.

They don't kiss to say goodbye, though. Probably for the best.

Would you look at that. Jenna brought Isaac home from work. Which actually makes sense, because they are both in the same line of work.
Jenna brings home more friends than other people do. Something about the Popularity aspiration.

So there he is, playing chess and chatting with her dad while she takes a bath in the next room.

Why yes, I did have Jenna do some work on her own car. In case you were wondering.

Once she'd gotten the engine fixed up - you see how it's no longer necessarily a shattered, smoking ruin? - she could start in on painting it. The car, that is. All I can say is, it's a good thing Sims never need to do laundry (although I hear it's an option in one of the Sims 3 expansions), because I wouldn't want to use a paint-sprayer in my nightgown. Even if I had a nightgown.

Ta-da! It's amazing what a coat of paint can do, isn't it? Like attaching the wheels and replacing the windows.
Some people, incidentally, recommend this as a way for Sims to make money without a job. The broken-down car costs significantly less than you can sell the fixed-up version for, and there's no other materials costs. But this car was intended for Jenna to have and use.

This is, in my opinion, one of the funniest screenshots I've taken. Felix was cooking spaghetti, and his parents started making out in the kitchen. Things got hot enough in there to burn the meal.
(Of course it's coincidental. But I like that interpretation better than "Felix doesn't have enough cooking skill".)

At long last, the time had come.

Felix was ready.

He sat at the computer, and sent a message.

In moments, the taxi arrived. Slowly, he walked out.

What would the future bring? What would Felix find at...

...Wey U?
To Be Continued...
In point of fact, I do have more pictures. But that seems like a good place to stop.
