A meme of icons

From [livejournal.com profile] ceitfianna:

Comment here and I will pick six of your icons, you then copy and paste this in your LJ along with your explanations/comments/squeeage about each one.

I can't say for certain, but I think this is one of the icons I've had up the longest. I like it mostly because I love stories, and I love math, and it juxtaposes them in a way that should be nonsensical, but isn't.

This is my last remaining Potterpuff icon, after the cleaning-out I did a bit ago. I don't know why I had so very many, as I was never very much in the Potter fandom. This one I keep, though, because there are so many uses for a "brain explode" icon. I'd probably swap it out if I found a "brain explode" icon I like in another fandom, but for now it's staying.

This one has something of a story behind it. For those who don't know, in Final Fantasy 6 (originally released in the US as Final Fantasy 3) one of your party members is Celes, a general in the Gestahlian Imperial Army and one of two playable characters who can use magic before about a third of the way through the game. Shortly after magic becomes accessible, there is a rather bizarre scene in which Celes impersonates the world-famous opera singer Maria, whom she resembles exactly. I don't know whether [livejournal.com profile] standing_inside intended it to be a Celes icon or a Maria icon, but either way it's quite cute and musical.

Incidentally, it appears that every one of the FFVI icons I've downloaded is of Celes/Maria at the opera.

I don't know [livejournal.com profile] lienne personally, although I'm aware she is/was a fellow Milliwayser. I don't even remember specifically how I found her icon comm, [livejournal.com profile] icon_pythagoras, through which I located her personal journal. However, even if I don't take very many of them, I tend to be entranced by her icons. This one in particular, from a set of similar ones, speaks to me of glory and light and hope.

This I got through [livejournal.com profile] kippurbird's journal. I forget the occasion, but she posted a picture of her cat, Chaucer, sitting in a box, and someone (evidently [livejournal.com profile] veetvoojagig) integrated it with some stills from the first season of Heroes. Curiously, I think this is the only icon I've ever had that involves profanity.

There is no possibility I would have had this icon if not for Milliways. I think it was in my first month there, December '05, that [livejournal.com profile] bigfluffball proposed the "Sheep Distraction Miniplot" for Snowball ([livejournal.com profile] scapepig), which involved various characters going to his old farm in animal shapes. Felix went as a cat, and so when I was home for winter break I took several pictures of my cats. I'm no longer certain, but I think that's the cat who died a few months after the picture was taken.
